Tips for Seniors travelling
to the Sunshine Coast

We've compiled some tips for seniors planning a trip to our region to make your vacation as pleasant and conveniently accessible as possible!

• BC Seniors travel free on BC Ferries Monday through Thursday
  except on holidays. This applies only to the passenger fare.
  Please show your BC Gold Care Card as it confirms your age
  (65 years or older) and also that you are a full-time resident of British Columbia.
  
  
• The Coast's hospital, St. Mary's, is located in Sechelt across from the
  Ravens Cry Theatre. Emergency room is open 24 hours.
  
  
• Prescriptions can be filled at drugstores in the Sunnycrest Mall
  and Trail Bay Mall, and in Pender Harbour at the Madeira Park Pharmacy.
  
  
• There is a Seniors Activity Centre in Sechelt, located on Trail Avenue.
  
  
• There are four branches of the Royal Canadian Legion on the Sunshine
  Coast, in Gibsons on Highway 101 near North Road, on Lower Road
  in Roberts Creek, on Wharf Avenue in Sechelt, and in Pender Harbour.
  
  
• Level walking areas for elderly seniors include
  • Trail Bay in Sechelt, from Wharf Avenue to Snickett Park
  • Porpoise Bay Provincial Park, Sechelt Inlet
  • Downtown Sechelt - Village proper
  • Davis Bay seawall
  • Gibsons Landing/Marine Drive
  • Sechelt Marsh, Porpoise Bay
  • Provincial Park, Roberts Creek, foot of Flume & Lower Road
  • Garden Bay, Pender Harbour
